Angie Stone - The Art Of Love And War (LP)

Angie Stone - The Art Of Love And WarI’m yet to hear an Angie Album that I dislike and her latest doesn’t disappoint in fact this could possibly be her best album to date.

There is something about Angie Stone which very few neo soul artists have- you can play any of her albums confident in the knowledge that it will be packed with lyrically strong, sexy, soulful tunes.

The art of love and war encompasses all of these things with a mix of both chilled out ballads, and uplifting songs as it takes you on a journey which expresses everything I love about soul music and how good it makes you feel. There are too many good tracks to mention- but among the best are Sit down, Here we go again and These are the reasons.

The album also features some great collaborations- which Angie once again gets spot on. This is demonstrated in Half a chance feat Chino- complementing each other perfectly and Baby-a great up tempo soulful tune feat Betty Wright.

The Art of love and war has a great flow to it, making it easy to listen to, with its beautiful instrumentation and vocals. Every tune is considered and fits together so well, resulting in a selection of great songs from start to finish and yet another strong album from Ms stone.
